I stayed with Ahmad for a total of three weeks, across two locations of the bamboo project. During my stay, I was able to explore Langkawi and Perak, near Ipoh and Taiping. Ahmad is a very kind, generous and thoughtful host, and we discussed over meals about his ideas about bamboo, and how to change the perception of bamboo, not to mention the many beautiful souls who joined his cause over the years.

I had a wonderful two weeks in Langkawi with Ahmad, Rose and the team! My visit coincided with a Bamboo Construction Workshop, in which I learnt some valuable basics of working with bamboo as well as helping out in the kitchen with the catering for the event - learning Malaysian cooking! I can't thank them enough for the lovely experience. Langkawi is beautiful and so fun to hitchike around, exploring the beaches/islands/waterfalls and local markets. Thank you again and I hope to visit again one day in the future!

Being there didn’t feel like just a stay—it felt like making a lifelong friend. I felt truly seen, valued, and welcomed in their home and community. I've spent a month here, It was an incredible experience from start to finish. I have never worked with bamboo before, but I have learned countless things and I am sure I will apply them in my life. Ahmad and Roze are incredible hosts, the friendship we made during my stay here was priceless. Taking care of the garden, taking part in bamboo projects, taking care of dogs and dealing with various DIY projects were among my general duties. There's no limit to what you can do here.

I had a lovely experience here, the people are honest very helpful and always greet you with a heartfelt smile. I loved going for bike rides exploring the area admiring the sunsets and lush green landscape. Ahmad encourages volunteers to be proactive and come up with new ideas. Depending on the season you will have time and space to realize your own projects, learn amazing facts about bamboo and construction and meet wonderful people :)
